The Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) and the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia (AFPM) are looking forward to moving into its new home located in Plot 8C8, Precinct 8, Putrajaya. This building is in the medical corridor in Putrajaya, in close proximity to the Putrajaya Hospital and the National Cancer Institute.

The Academies were greatly honoured that YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamed laid the foundation stone at a ceremony on 10th October 2022 at the construction site itself. YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamed is an Honorary Fellow of both the Academies. He was accompanied by YABhg Tun Dr Siti Hasmah binti Mohd Ali, who is also an Honorary Fellow.

The Academies are non-for-profit organisations representing medical specialists and family physicians across Malaysia. With this building, the Academies will be able to continue to expand their roles and advocacies in promoting postgraduate education and the training of medical specialists. Its noble objectives are to promote and maintain the highest standards of professional practice, maintain a code of ethical conduct amongst the members, support educational and training activities, and enhance and improve general health awareness.

 

The four-storey building has a built-up area of 100,000 sq ft and is scheduled to be ready for occupation by the last quarter of 2023. It has a resource centre, an auditorium, a flexi-hall, clinical skills laboratory training and seminar rooms, and offices for the Academies and some medical organisations that have decided to have their offices in the building.
